Colleges across the country are experiencing tremendous growth in their student population. To meet this new demand, many need to expand their existing
housing stock. The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz did just that at the groundbreaking of their new dormitory on August of 2000.
Sweet Constructors working in partnership with STV/Silver & Ziskind of New York City for the design and construction of the new dormitory on the
New Paltz campus. This $11 million housing facility is the first new residence hall since 1965. The 68,000 square foot, 5 story building houses 230+
students. The building took thirteen months to construct including a redesign of the entire facility from a Modular Structural System to a Standard
Structural System. Yielding a saving to the owner of over $2 million.
