Company Overview

Sweet Constructors was founded by the late Ansel Sweet, P.E., LLS in 1951. Headquartered in Schenectady, New York, Sweet also opened offices in Burlington, Vermont and Spartanburg, South Carolina in the late 70's and soon became the third largest Construction Management firm in the United States.

Sweet Constructors, now located in Glens Falls, NY, has been instrumental in major economic growth projects throughout Upstate New York and the Capital Region. Sweet served as the General Contractor for the construction of the New Passenger Terminal at the Albany International Airport and the University at Albany's New Science and Technology Library. Both projects, recognized by the elite in the industry, received prestigious awards locally and nationally.

With the passing of key individuals, Victor Macri, Jr. formed The VMJR Companies and purchased Sweet Constructors in 1991. Mr. Macri has worked at Sweet since 1974, starting as a project engineer and working his way up to President in 1984, and then owner. Through his vision and leadership, The VMJR Companies was ranked fifth by the Capital District Business Review's Book of Lists in 2000 for construction firms in the Capital Region.

"The knowledge and skills of our employees make it easy to lead our award winning team," stated Victor Macri, Jr, President & CEO.

Mr. Macri, Sweet Constructors, and its employees are committed to this Region. The company is active in community service, both personally and through corporate activities in the arts, social services, and construction industry related boards at the local and national levels.
